look out your window, and welcome to Genovia...

I now have internet! Here’s a recap—some of my journal entries from the past week!
Just so you all know, there is a link to my photo blog- a photo a day, called "windbl0wn." I'll be posting a photo for each day, as often as I can! Enjoy. :)

Hmmmm.
Things here so far have been good! Pretty normal…Cheryl’s furniture ALLLL arrived today so that was pretty tiring! The kiddos are so cute and sweet though. Josh says t’s in the place of all g, c, qu and k sounds, so sometimes I have to interpret (“Emilie’s stuck in the tar!” “mommy’s the tween of mirrors!” “I have to tut off the extra.”), but I’m getting the hang of it. Emily is quite a princess, but a sweet one. Her favorite color is PINK and that means EVERYTHING is pink.
I’m excited to be able to talk to people from home often, and I especially can’t wait til the internet arrives in 13 days. 13 days! Eeek, what will I do?? I miss people. But I’m still staying on top of everything with a photo-a-day.
This morning I took the kiddos to the park and it was very picturesque…the sun was just rising and it was a little chilly. Blaze seems to be doing well here! She’s still exhausted, as am I. I can’t wait to get over the jet lag.
Filderstadt is a bit more rural than I imagined it…it’s a suburb of Stuttgart so I just hope I’m able to find some interesting things to do/places to go/people to be friends with around here. My street is full of older folks. But I did hear a band playing inside a German church (sounded like a youth band!) and I wanted to go inside, but I didn’t. As soon as I figure out the bus system I’ll be set though! But it’s only full-day #1, so I shouldn’t give myself a hard time. I am trying to stay awake til 8…and it’s 7:50…10…more…minutes…

Blaze has found this corner she’s been escaping to. It’s kind of funny. It’s in a room with a bunch of things not-yet-unpacked…behind a sofa. Weird dog. I love her, but won’t deny she’s pretty weird. Haha.

I just have to figure out this darn train system. BLEHH.

Classes start in 2 days! WOO! Think that now because I live in Germany I’ll have an excuse to spell things incorrectly? Like theatre, and colour?

Without internet I feel a bit lost. Part of me really wants the Internet to be WORKING here on my computer, while part of me is saying “isn’t it so sad that you are SOOOO dependent on the internet??”

I miss talking to my friends. It’s funny-- family I know will always be there…but with friends you have to keep up with their lives in some shape or form to merit the name.

I like walking around my little village. Harthausen, Filderstadt. So far, I’ve seen older people who say “hallo” or “Gruss Gott” to me (sometimes), and many, many pretty homes and even prettier gardens! This is my home for the next 9 months! It’s only day 2. How odd.
I want to meet some cool people!!!!!

I’m so tired. Been walking EVERYWHERE and I love love love it. LOVE IT. My legs are tired right now though..it’s catching up with me! I keep taking bigger loops around Harthausen… I got to the edge of town today and kept going! Blaze loves it. I love it. Woohoo!
Now, to read The Name of The Wind before I go to bed. Sigh. Good literature makes me oh-so content. I’ve read all the Lord of the Rings books, all the Narnia series, all the Harry Potter Books and more (and more…and more…)…and this falls into a similar-but-not-quite genre. It reminds me of The Wheel of Time…some books I read early in high school that I ADORED… I devoured those 800 page suckers like American fast food after a missions trip… but they got too raunchy and I put them down. So, thank you Garrett Blair for introducing the two of us, NOTW and I will live long and very happy lives together. In case you, oh reader, didn’t know, I’m not-so-secretly a fantasy nerd. I would marry Peter Pan or Aladdin in a heartbeat. Whomever asks me first. But yes. Think magic, good versus evil, unforeseen warriors, named swords, mysterious castles, traveling gypsies, minstrels who carry secrets in their songs, the works. I’m all over that. IF it is WELL WRITTEN. Thank you.

I just made a friend! :D a mother, Cathleen, with 2 daughters…we met at the park- the one with the swings! Woohoo. She said that her husband works in Stuttgart right next to the train station! Amazing. And that if I ever need a ride I can just give them a call! HOW COOL IS THAT.
